March is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month and Octane Raceway in Scottsdale has created a special cocktail to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The Mountain Sunrise is $10, with $2 going to the charity, which funds research of the debilitating disease of the central nervous system.
Scott Sanders, CEO and owner of Octane Raceway, says the cause is "near and dear" to his heart. "My wife was diagnosed with MS 8 years ago. We have the opportunity at Octane to bring awareness to as well as raise money for (NMSS)."
He hopes to raise about $3,000 from the orange juice-based cocktail over the next few months and will give a matching donation. Orange is the color of the MS awareness ribbon, Sanders says.
Sanders is supplying the recipe so you can make the cocktail at home, but hopes that you'll come to Octane Raceway to support the cause. The onsite Brickyard Grill is open to the public and "all are welcome as long as they are of age to order the drink," Sanders says.
